March 3, 2026. Children as Zones of Peace National Campaign (CZOP) expressed serious concern following incidents where suspicious explosive objects injured four individuals, including two children, in Dhanusha and Mahottari districts.
In Mithila Municipality–9, Dhanusha, a blast injured 15-year-old Aasha Bhujel and 8-year-old Sushil Majhi, who sustained injuries to their limbs and chest. Similarly, in Bardibas Municipality–1, Mahottari, two youths were injured in a similar explosion. CZOP also reported the discovery of suspicious objects in Surkhet, Rautahat, Kaski, Kanchanpur, and Morang, along with arson incidents in Kathmandu.
CZOP urged concerned authorities to ensure free and effective treatment for the injured and highlighted increased risks to children during the election silence period. The organization emphasized that with many polling centers located in schools, such incidents pose serious threats to children’s safety. CZOP called on all stakeholders to ensure a fear-free environment and prioritize child protection.
