April26,2026.When slum dwellers are relocated or moved from one place to another in the name of eviction or resettlement, children who are with their parents, as well as pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and persons with disabilities, may face serious impacts. There is a need to be highly sensitive regarding their education, health, protection, and safety in the places where the government immediately provides alternative arrangements.
The scenes of their own homes being demolished with bulldozers in front of their eyes can have significant psychological effects on their minds, and this should also be considered from the perspective of child psychology experts.
Therefore, such actions should only be carried out after proper preparation, clearly distinguishing between squatters and lawful residents, and through mutual agreement, cooperation, and dialogue. While using eviction and resettlement methods, we respectfully request that the concerned authorities pay special attention to the protection and promotion of children’s rights.
