Discussion with Provincial Parliamentary Forum for Child Rights Held in Bardibas, Madhesh Province

Bardibas, Mahottari – A program on the Role of the Provincial Parliamentary Forum for Child Rights in Madhesh Province was successfully held in Bardibas under the chairpersonship of Honorable Sharda Devi Thapa, the coordinator of the Forum. The event was graced by Honorable Rupa Kumari Yadav, Chairperson of the Women, Children, and Social Justice Committee, as the chief guest. Honorable Anita Kumari Shah, Chairperson of the Economic Affairs and Planning Committee, was present as a special guest.

The event saw participation from eight Members of the Provincial Assembly representing Madhesh Province, officials from government bodies, organizations and individuals working in the field of child rights, and development partners. Among them were representatives from World Vision, led by Pramil Adhikari, and members of CZOP’s partner organizations.

The discussions centered around the role of Provincial Assembly Members in the Parliamentary Forum for Child Rights in Madhesh, and the pressing issues concerning children that need to be raised in the parliament. Speakers emphasized the importance of voicing children’s concerns in legislative forums and expressed their commitment to doing so.

Mina Sharma, Chairperson of CZOP, highlighted that similar parliamentary committees have been formed across all provinces, and such programs have significantly broadened the understanding of child rights among lawmakers nationwide.
