Discussion Held in Kathmandu on Children’s Issues in Government Policy and Budget for FY 2083/84

Kathmandu, April 23 — A discussion program on children’s issues in the Government of Nepal’s policy and budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 was successfully held today in Kathmandu. The event was organized by the Children as Zones of Peace (CZOP) National Campaign.

The program was conducted ahead of the announcement of policy programs and budgets by the federal and provincial governments. It focused on identifying key issues affecting children in the current context and exploring what concerns should be raised in Parliament.
Honorable members from the National Assembly, House of Representatives, and Bagmati Provincial Assembly participated in the discussion. During the program, the participating lawmakers expressed their commitment to raising children’s issues in the upcoming government policy and budget.
The event included representatives from major political parties such as the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepal Communist Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party. Although invitations were extended to representatives from all political parties, participation was limited to these groups.
Dr. Kiran Rupakheti facilitated the session, and the program was chaired by Tilottam Poudel, President of CZOP. A total of 48 participants attended the event, including elected representatives, journalists, and members of civil society networks.

The discussion highlighted the importance of prioritizing children’s issues in national and provincial policies and budget allocations.
